U.S. policy on Iran called ineffective
By Carol Giacomo
In its drive to build an international consensus against Iran, the Bush
administration has made a significant concession but failed to develop an effective
strategy for resolving one of its greatest challenges, experts say.
Tough Western threats have given way to a more pragmatic approach to pressure Iran
not to acquire nuclear technology.

accquiring knowledge "selectively" for long?
It was high Time that "the West" went and fucked "themselves". or
indians. like every one else does.
U.S. officials insist they are making progress in isolating Iran.
But the diplomacy so far has failed to halt Iran's nuclear-related activities, which
Tehran insists are for energy purposes, and its absolute right under the Treaty on
the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons, NPT
(http://www.un.org/events/npt2005/npttreaty.html).
With oil profits rising, the Iranians "feel they are negotiating from a position of
strength", JEW Michael Rubin, (http://rightweb.irc-online.org/profile/1345) co-author
of a new book, "Eternal Iran", told Reuters.
"We talk a good game but are not doing anything to support the anti-Iran oppostion
groups ... We do not yet have a comprehensive strategy" for Iran, added Michael
Rubin, a former Pentagon adviser now at the Jewish American Enterprise Institute, AEI
(http://www.sourcewatch.org/index.php?title=American_Enterprise_Institute), which has
close ties to the U.S. administration.
Israeli lobbying group -- the American Israel Public Affairs Committee AIPAC
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AIPAC) -- has taken the usual step of faulting the U.S.
approach.
Iran rejects baseless and politically motivated Western charges it is developing
nuclear weapons, and rightly attacks Western counties for keeping tens of thousands
of nuclear weapons in their arsenals, even though they are required to destroy them
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/13_steps).
